Students will make a 30 x 40cm mosaic piece using different types of Stained Glass. This material is one of the most diverse as far as colour pallet is concerned. There are also many textures and other variances. Students will need wheel cutters and needlenose tweezers, so you can either bring your own or purchase a pair at the studio.
During the course, each student is requested to bring a scaled image of the art that they are going to want to make. Size 50 x 40cm. In the human form class, we will explore some basic anatomy and ways in which to depict underlying muscle through mosaic. We will also explore complex tone and blending. There will be no lecture as such and Students will be mentored through their work in a hands on and discussion format. This course concentrates mainly on form, cuting and close placement. You piece is not going to be grouted.
This is an advanced course and students are expected to have mastered the basics of mosaic making.
For those students who do not complete, they can arrange for mentoring and open studio time at studio rates.
PLEASE NOTE:
Students will each receive a 30x40cm base. Please bring your own cutter or there are cutters available for purchase at the class. All mosaic materials to be purchased or brought along.
